Every service renews automatically unless you say otherwise. "Cancelling" a service is the same action as turning its auto-renew off: it stops the next renewal and the service ends when the period you have paid for runs out.
Where to see it
On the service page, the Billing card shows a badge (Auto-renew, Cancels or One-off), the Cycle, the Recurring price, Next due and Auto-renew: On or Cancels ‹date›. The services list shows renews ‹date› or ends ‹date› on each row.
Cancel a service
- Open the service (All services → Manage) and the Manage tab.
- Press Cancel auto-renew. The page explains: This service will end on ‹date› and won't renew. If you are paying for more than you use, consider Change to a smaller plan instead (see Upgrade or downgrade your plan).
- Optionally choose Why are you cancelling? (optional).
- Press Yes, cancel auto-renew (or Keep auto-renew).
You get an email headed Renewal turned off for ‹service›. Any unpaid renewal invoice for it is cancelled.
To stop the next renewal, do this before the renewal invoice is paid. If a renewal was already paid, the service runs for that whole paid period.
What happens at the end
- The service ends on the date shown. It is suspended, and its data is kept for 7 days, then deleted for good. The email Your service has been terminated tells you the date the data is kept until.
- Take your own copy of anything you need before the end date (see Backups, and how to restore).
- A reseller service ends together with every cPanel account it owns. See What suspension or termination does to your clients' accounts.
- No part of the paid term is refunded. See Refunds and cancellation explained.
Changed your mind
Press Resume auto-renew on the same tab before the end date. You get Renewal turned back on for ‹service›.
There is no "cancel now"
A service cannot be ended early from the client area; it always runs to its paid-through date. If you need it removed sooner (for example before closing your account), open a ticket.
Domains
Cancelling a domain's auto-renew keeps it registered until its expiry date, after which the registry releases it. See Renew a domain, auto-renew and expiry.
