A passkey is a sign-in key stored on your device or in your password manager. Your browser proves it is you with your fingerprint, face or device PIN, and no password or code is typed. Your password and two-factor keep working alongside it.
Add a passkey
- Open Settings → Security → Passkeys.
- Give it a name (the placeholder suggests e.g. My laptop).
- Enter your Current password and, if you use two-factor, a 2FA code (if on). The page explains why: a passkey signs you in on its own, so adding one is checked like a sign-in.
- Press Add a passkey and follow your device's prompt (fingerprint, face, PIN, or your password manager).
We email you whenever a passkey is added to your account.
Each device or password manager needs its own passkey; add one per device you use. Remove deletes a passkey you no longer want.
Sign in with it
On the sign-in page press Sign in with a passkey (the button appears only in browsers that support passkeys) and follow the prompt. If it fails, the page says That passkey could not sign you in. Sign in with your password and code instead.
If the section says "Passkeys are not available on this server yet"
Passkeys are switched on for every account, so you should not see this. If you do, sign in with your password and two-factor as usual and tell us in a support ticket.
