Lost the password from your login-details link? You can make a new one yourself. It replaces the old one immediately.
Steps
- Open your hosting service in the client area (All services → Manage) and the Manage tab.
- Under Server controls press Reset root password. (The button carries that name for every kind of service; on a hosting account it resets the cPanel password, on a reseller plan the WHM password.)
- Read the warning: Your current root password stops working immediately. A new one is generated and shown to you once. Press Yes, reset the password.
- The page shows Your new password — copy it now. We do not keep a copy, so this is the only time it is shown. with your Username and the new Password and a copy button. Save it in your password manager before leaving the page.
What else changes
The new password is also applied to the database users of the account, so a website that connects to its database with the cPanel password (some installers do this) must be updated. A site that uses its own database user and password is not affected.
FTP logins that use the cPanel account itself change with it.
Common problems
- The button is not there. It appears only while the service is running. A suspended service shows the reason instead; see My hosting is suspended.
- You only need to get in once. Use Log in to cPanel instead; it signs you in without the password. See Log in to cPanel.
