Every domain has a registrant: the person or organisation the registrar lists as its owner. On your account that is the contact with the Domain owner role. Your domains are registered in that name, so get it right before you order.

Complete the contact

  1. Open Settings → Contacts. If you already have a contact with the role Domain owner (filed with the registrar for your domains), press Edit on it; otherwise press + Add a contact (or edit the contact created at sign-up and tick the role).
  2. Fill in Name, Email, Phone (optional, E.164) (required here, in international format, e.g. +8801712345678), Organisation (optional) if the domain belongs to a company, and the full Postal address including the postcode and the country code (BD). The address is required for the domain owner.
  3. Save. We email the address a confirmation link; the contact must open it and press Confirm my email. Until then the contact counts as incomplete.

There is one Domain owner contact per account. If none has the role, we use your default contact, which must then meet the same requirements.

What happens with it

  • When you register or transfer a domain, the contact's details at that moment are filed with the registrar as the domain's owner. The order is refused with a clear message if anything is missing.
  • The registrar may email that address to confirm it. Answer those emails: an unconfirmed registrant address can lead the registry to put the domain on hold (the domain page then shows The registry has put this domain on hold).

A domain registered under our details

A domain that was registered under our house details (for example one we registered for you by hand) shows, on its Manage tab, the card Domain owner with the text This domain is still registered under our details. File yours so the registrar lists you as its owner. Press File my details as owner. The registrar then emails the current and new owner to approve the change; it takes effect once approved, and the domain may be locked against transfer for 60 days afterwards.

If your details have changed since, the same card offers Update from my Domain owner contact.

Changing the owner later

Edit the Domain owner contact, then press Update from my Domain owner contact on each domain. A change of name or email on a domain is treated by registries as an owner change and may trigger the same approval emails and the 60-day transfer lock.
