Already hosted somewhere else? We move your website to your new hosting for free. You tell us what to move and from where; our team plans it with you in a ticket, and nothing moves until you agree.

What you need first

  • A hosting plan with us, ordered and paid (see Order web hosting). We migrate into that account.
  • Your current host still running until the move is complete. Do not cancel it yet.
  • A way for us to access the old site: usually the old cPanel login, or a full account backup from it. We arrange that inside the ticket, never in the form.

Request the move

  1. In the client area open Support, press New ticket, and follow the link Moving a website or server to us? Use the migration request form →.
  2. On Move a website or server to us, tick What do you want to move?: Websites on shared or cPanel hosting, Email accounts, Domain names (a transfer), and the others if they apply.
  3. Fill in Who hosts it now? (required), Control panel there (if any), Domains involved, About how much data?, When would suit you? and Anything else.
  4. Do not put passwords in the form; the page says so. Press Send the request.

The request becomes a support ticket headed Migration request: ‹host›, and the ticket opens straight away.

What happens next

  1. Our team replies in the ticket with what the move involves and a time. For a cPanel-to-cPanel move we usually transfer the whole account: files, databases, email accounts and their mail, cron jobs and settings.
  2. We ask for access (your old panel login, or a backup) in the ticket and copy the site to your new account. Your old site keeps running during the copy.
  3. We check the copied site with you on a preview address.
  4. When you are happy, you point the domain at the new hosting (see Point your domain at your hosting), or we do it if the domain is with us. This is the only moment with any downtime, and we plan it to be short.
  5. Keep the old hosting for a few days after the switch, then cancel it there.

See Prepare for your migration for what to do before and after.

What we cannot do

  • Move a site whose current host gives no access and no backup.
  • Move content that breaks our acceptable use rules.
  • Resell a site into a web hosting plan that is too small for it; we will tell you if a bigger plan is needed.
